JAMB Condemns Hijab Incident at Ibadan CBT Centre

Jamb 2026

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has condemned an incident involving hijab-wearing candidates during the 2026 UTME.

The board said the action was unauthorised and goes against its official screening guidelines.

According to JAMB, the issue happened during the first session and was caused by an overzealous ad-hoc staff.

The official was immediately called to order, with clear instructions that no candidate should be asked to remove or alter their hijab.

JAMB stressed that the CBT centre was not responsible for the incident.

The board also reaffirmed its respect for religious freedom and assured candidates that their rights remain protected.
