The full list of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU catchment area and ABU Elds for admission in the 2026/2027 academic session is now available.
ABU catchment areas are specific geographical regions or states to which the school give preference to candidates during admission.
For instance, if you are from a particular state or region that falls under the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) catchment area, you may have a higher chance of gaining admission.
ABU catchment area is based on factors such as proximity to the school, state of origin, and local government area.
Also, admission slots are usually reserved for candidates from these catchment areas to promote regional balance and inclusiveness in education.

ABU Admission Quota System
Admission into the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) through UTME is based on a quota system, and ABU admission is based on the following quota:
| Merit | 40% |
| Catchment Area | 35% |
| Educationally Less Developed States (ELDS) | 20% |
This means that 40% of ABU admission is based on Merit, while the remaining percentage is for those from the catchment area and ELDs.

So, even if you have a low JAMB score, you may still have a good chance depending on your catchment area or if you fall under ELDS.

However, it should be noted that being from a state within the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) catchment area does not guarantee automatic admission.
To gain admission into ABU, you must meet all the requirements, including having the required JAMB and Post-UTME scores for your state, as well as the necessary O’Level credits, among others.
